How to Enable Google Maps API to Embed on Website

Google Maps now requires all websites that embed its maps to create an active billing account with Google. The reason for this is that it allows Google to charge websites with very high traffic levels for using their maps. For all low-traffic sites, no charges will apply.

Follow the steps below to set up a Google Maps billing account.

Check the ‘Maps’ checkbox, and click ‘continue.

Type in a new project name (something like ‘Google Map for mydomain.com’), click ‘NEXT’, and click to agree to the terms of service.

Click to CREATE BILLING ACCOUNT when prompted.

Follow instructions to add payment details.

Take a note of the API code provided by Google. This will act as a ‘key’ that will allow us to use Google maps on the website.
